Summer Poetry Slam Winner - Week 9
by: Jane Plain
It’s not my nature to let the stuffing show
like a Barcalounger that’s seen too much cable T.V.
a scarecrow who couldn’t get in a bluff
before the birds figured out her true identity
a Thanksgiving turkey 500° too dry
a jelly doughnut minus the first bite
Who would want to read my poetry anyway?
a cup of Jane black, one hanger in a thirty pack
a plastic flamingo faded by the sun.
