Insulated Overall Bibs

1/28/2015

Picture
We are big fans of insulated overall bibs and recommend them to anyone living in or traveling to cold climate areas.

Insulated bibs offer many benefits to those who wear them.

1. They help block the effects of wind, rain, and snow.

2. They're durable.

3. They're large enough to wear over clothing comfortably.

4. They're easy to put on and take off.

5. They're fairly inexpensive.

6. They can be found at a variety of stores and online.
What's so great about having insulated bibs is you can wear them over work clothes and still walk comfortably. When you arrive at work simply slip the overalls off and you're ready for the day. When it's time to go home, repeat the process in reverse.

If you think overall bibs are bulking, you're right, but when it comes to staying warm in cold weather we promise that, once you wear a pair and see the effects, you'll wonder how you ever managed without.
If you unsure of which brand of overall bibs to buy, we've done our fair share of research. There are several brands on the market to choose from.

Carhartt:

The Carhartt brand makes a durable product in a wide range of styles, and if you're about spending a little more money for a quality product and a popular brand name, then you won't go wrong with Carhartt.

Carhartt bibs can cost anywhere from $70-$220, depending on the style and where you buy them. They can be found online and in retail outlets.

Browse Carhartt's Website

Berne:

Berne is another option. Berne is a cheaper option for those not certain they want to go whole hog into overall bibs. Berne's bibs range from $60-
$100, depending on style and where you buy it.

Browse Berne's Website

Walls:

Walls is also a good brand of insulated overall bibs. The color selection and styles are limited, but they are less expensive than Carhartt and have proven to be durable. Wall's insulated bibs range from $50-$100, depending on where you buy them.

Browse Wall's Website

Dickies:

Dickies makes a fine insulated bib overall. A bit more expensive than both Berne and Wall, Dickies rivals Carhartt for what's left in your wallet. Insulated Bibs range from $60-$240, depending on the style and where you buy.

Most brands offer black, tan, and camo, but the good thing about Dickies is they have a variety of styles and colors to choose from.

Browse Dickies' Website

There are a lot of brands that offer insulated bib overalls. Brands like Key Apparel and Mossy Oak are also options for those wanting to dabble in insulated bibs.

Browse Amazon for insulated bibs.

DRAWBACKS

Many women (and some men), may find it hard to find smaller sized overall bibs.

Also, women's insulated bibs are available but they are limited in styles and offer mostly pink and purple colors.

If you're having trouble finding smaller sizes or don't like pink and purple, try searching for kid's bib overalls instead.

Also, a medium in men's sizes is small enough for some women to fit into comfortably. Once you add in the extra clothes underneath, you might find a medium in men's will do the trick, unless you're pencil thin.

Yeti

Yeti from Blue Microphones is not the best microphone in the world, but for the amateur recording artist, they're pretty darn good.

Yeti comes in two styles, the Yeti and the Yeti Pro.  Both give you excellent sound quality and multiple recording options including omni, stereo, cardioid, and bi-directional. Both have adjustable angles, mute buttons, and USB capabilities, which makes it easy to plug in and record.

While the Pro comes in black and the Yeti comes in silver, the more notable differences between the two mics are the analog capabilities, recording resolution and, of course, price.

XLR Cables

In addition to USB capabilities, the Pro also allows you to use XLR cables with a separate analog circuit path which lets you use the mic with professional studio mixers and preamps.

Recording Resolution

The Pro's recording resolution is 192kHz/24-bit while the standard model is 48 kHz/16-bit.

Price

Yeti's retail price is $149.99 while the Pro costs $249.99.

Use

Deciding whether to opt for the standard Yeti or upgrade to the Pro is all about use. If you plan on using the Yeti to record music or more complex audio work, then you'll want to invest in the Pro. If you only plan to use it for traditional podcasts or to just play around, then the standard model is sufficient.

If you need a microphone, give Yeti a shot. The sound is crisp. The mics are easy to use, and the results are superior to others brands. For a relatively inexpensive and easy-to-use microphone, the Yeti certainly does deliver impressive, professional-grade sound, all in the comforts of your home.

Clif Bars

Clif Bars have a good blend of carbs and protein, taste good, and give you plenty of energy. If you don't mind the price tag and the calories, they're an excellent addition to any snack drawer.

Clif Bars are made by Clif Bar and Company, who believe in all the things an energy bar maker should believe in. Although their website is a bit busy, they deliver on their promises and make a bar that's simple, healthy, and delicious.

Clif Bars come in a variety of favors, some tastier than others. The White Chocolate Macadamia is delicious, and if you love peanut butter, the Crunchy Peanut Butter flavor definitely delivers a punch. The good thing about Clif Bars is they have a flavor for every palate. It's always best to sample the flavors before committing to a whole box.

Clif Bars are available at a variety of distribution outlets, but you won't find them next to traditional granola bars. They're usually shelved where vitamins and other health-related products are sold.

Whether you eat them as a snack or as an energy source before or after a workout be warned: Clif Bars are somewhat addicting. At nearly 250 calories and $1 a pop Clif Bars can quickly pad your thighs and drain your wallet, but if eaten in moderation they can be a delicious and healthy treat that poses a variety of benefits to your diet.

Although Clif Bars are relatively high in sugar, they're still an excellent source of nutrition. Roughly 70% of the ingredients are organic, there are 4 to 5 grams of fiber in each bar, and there's a low fat content, which means if you have moderate activity in your day, you'll burn off most of the calories.

All in all, the biggest drawback to Clif Bars is the price. If you eat energy bars several times a day, you might need to set aside part of your grocery budget. If you don't mind the price or can practice moderation, then give Clif Bars a try. You'll be pleasantly surprised by the taste and the energy you receive.

Keen Sandals

If you're looking for a shoe that makes walking long distances over a variety of terrain feel like a walk in the park then look no further than Keen.

About Keen

Keen started by asking a simple design question: can a sandal protect the toes? After a bit of mulling over, the company decided the answer was yes and Keen sandals were born.

All Keen products are designed for the playground, and according to the company, a playground is any place without a ceiling.

Whether you're hiking, shopping, trail running, or walking along the beach, Keen ensures their sandals have superior fit, extra durability, unending comfort, and exceptional performance.

The BBB carefully researched Keen sandals and it is our conclusion that Keen delivers on its promises.

Quality

Keens are well-made, wear smoothly, and wash if they get too dirty.

Get prepared to be amazed by how long these things will last. They might not look brand new after awhile, especially if you wear your shoes hard, but they do hold their own in the aging process no matter how tough you are on your feet.

Fit

Keens fit nicely. They hug the foot snugly, but not enough to cause blisters. The sandals also breath well, which is nice on cutting down foot odor.

The rubber of the toe and sole does feel a bit bulky at first, but the design does an excellent job of protecting your feet. Plus, it doesn't take that long to get used to, and after awhile, you'll feel grateful for the buffer between your bare foot and some of the terrain you walk on.

Performance

No matter how much you walk in Keens, they grow more comfortable with each step. You can literally traverse islands, search up and down city streets, go from grass to gravel to cobblestone to wood to marble and never once does your arch, heal, or shin ache.

Comfort

There are websites and people out there dedicated to bashing Keens and the people who wear them. Why? Because a lot of people wear Keens. Why do a lot of people wear Keens? Because Keens are comfortable. Ignore the haters. There's nothing wrong with finding a comfortable shoe and wearing it.

The Ultimate Travel Companion

We recommend if you're going on vacation and are planning to sight see, invest in a pair of Keens. Otherwise you risk spending the entire time nursing blisters and shin splints.

The only drawback to Keens is the price tag. For a pair of sandals you'll pay anywhere from $80 - $100 plus, depending on the style.

They're Worth It

Keens have the best of both worlds. They've got the utility of a closed-toe shoe while offering the convenience, comfort, and style of a sandal. They're durable and feel amazing on your feet. They come in a variety of colors and styles, and you can wash them if they get too dirty. We wouldn't say Keens are the best shoes on the planet, but as far as utility and comfort, they're definitely at the top.

Boy Scouts of America

Approval Denied

Picture
If you're looking for a healthy, intellectual and emotionally-nurturing organization for your child to get involved in, we do not recommend joining Boy Scouts of America.

After a two-year review of the organization's policy on banning homosexual troupe leaders and scouts, Boy Scouts of America stands firm behind their convictions.

The organization cites parent and scout values as the reason the 102-year old organization's philosophy remains unchanged.

From a business perspective, any organization that doesn't evolve for 102 years is doomed to fail. Even the military has evolved their of stance on homosexuality, but for the Scouts, they don't seem to fear complacency and conservatism as a marketing strategy.

Instead, they fear gay people.

The Scout's stance on banning homosexuals from participating in their organization sends a larger message that the organization believes gay men and women are pedophiles.

Media stories like the ones surrounding Jerry Sandusky have sensationalized the topic in a way that makes it seem like male-to-male child molestation occurs more frequently than male-to-female.

According to a study in the Annual Review of Clinical Psychology, child molestation happens much more frequently to girls by straight men than to boys by gay men.

Child molestation is disgusting whether it happens to a girl or boy. Preventing it from happening is a noble and much needed fight that should be taken on, but to imply that gay men and women are not capable of nurturing and helping children grow intellectually, spiritually, and emotionally because they will molest your child is absurd.

We can go on about the history of Boy Scouts of America, the deep-rooted connection to the church, and the deterioration of not only their membership, but also their financial support from other organizations with much more evolved corporate philosophies, but the BBB's denial of Boy Scouts of America as a quality, ethical organization all boils down to their ban on gay people.

Your child will be more evolved, more diverse, more accepting, and more educated if they stay clear of Boys Scouts America and get involved in another organization. Scout's honor.

Swatch Watches

5/14/2012

If you're looking for a unique fashion accessory that won't break the bank, look no further than a Swatch Watch.

Swatch watches are reasonably priced, durable, unique, and come in a variety of colors, styles, sizes, and prints to suit every kind of time keeping personality.

Swatch is a Swiss-based company, and the name Swatch comes from a contraction of "Second Watch." When starting out Swatch had a new concept for the time piece industry. They wanted their watches to be casual, fun, and disposable fashion accessories.

Introduced in 1983, Swatch quickly rose to popularity and became a fad that helped establish a decade. It was not uncommon in the mid-1980s to see someone wearing two Swatch watches or using them for other purposes like ponytail holders.

Swatch evolved from a fad to a serious brand by diversifying their product line and partnering with artists like Keith Haring and sponsoring and becoming the official timekeeper for out-of-the-box sports like beach volleyball, BMX, snowboarding, wake boarding, jet skiing, surfing, snow mobile racing, and freestyle motocross.

Long past are the days of the interchangeable watch faces and wristbands. Today, Swatch offers a comprehensive line of time pieces, including metal-bodied watches (the Irony family), diving watches (the Scuba series), thin and flat bodied watches (the Skin family), digital watches (the Touch series), and even an Internet-connected watch that can download stock quotes, news headlines, weather reports, and other data (the Paparazzi series). Swatch also launched Bijoux, a line of jewelry that specializes in bracelets, rings, earrings, and pendents.

Swatch watches are light on the wrist, stylish, and can take a lot of bumps and bruises. Most have a price tag between $50-$150, which allows you to buy multiple colors and styles for as much as it costs to buy one watch from more expensive competitors.

Swatch has numerous outlets all over the world, and their products can be bought on their website, which is clean, stylish, and easy to navigate.

Because of the low cost and durability, Swatch makes for excellent starter watches for children and offers a wide range of prints and styles in kids' sizes.

Overall, Swatch is an excellent addition to your wardrobe especially on days when you feel like livening things up. They're fun, affordable, and make you feel young again. A Swatch watch might not be the fountain of youth, but wearing one is certainly a blast from the past, and it's guaranteed to feel good on your wrist. What more can you ask for when it comes to buying a relatively cheap watch?

We do not recommend flying JetBlue unless you're looking for one of two things to happen: 1.) An employee to have a massive freakout, and 2.) To watch your possible death play out on a tiny screen in front of you. If you're looking to do either of those activities on your next vacation, then JetBlue is the airline for you. For everyone else, stay clear.
