Lesson #3: General Gun Safety Rules

5/31/2013

1. Treat firearm as if it is loaded at all times

Keep the muzzle pointed away from you and others at all times.

2. Keep firearm pointed in a safe direction

A safe direction includes:
  • Zero damage to persons (including yourself)
  • Minimal property damage
  • Never point a firearm at someone unless you're prepared to kill them.

3. Keep your finger off the trigger until you've made the decision to fire

Your finger is your primary safety.

4. Make positive target identification

Know your target and what's behind it.

See What Happens When You Don't Follow These Rules

    Mooseville Gun Law

If you want to carry a firearm, either openly or concealed, in Mooseville you must complete our gun safety course, pass a background check, and sign our agreement. Failure to comply is a felony and comes with a $10,000 fine, up to five years in jail, and an immediate banishment from town.
