SONG OF THE monDAY
The Tide Is High was written by John Holt and originally recorded by the Paragons in 1966 for the album, On the Beach with the Paragons. Popular in Jamaica and UK, the song didn't become an international hit until Blondie covered it for their 1980 album, Autoamerican. It was the group's third No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100. In 2002, Atomic Kitten hit No. 1 in the UK with their version.

SONG OF THE tuesDAY
Buckets of Rain was written by Bob Dylan, and he originally recorded it in 1974. It was released in 1975 from the album, Blood on the Tracks. Many artists have covered the song since, including Neko Case from her 2003 album Live from Austin, TX.

SONG OF THE wednesDAY
Written by Buddy Holly and Norman Petty, Everyday was recorded with the Crickets in 1957 and released as the B-side to Peggy Sue from the 1958 album, Buddy Holly. Though Everyday has a grammatically incorrect title, it’s been covered by several artists and used in multiple films including one of our all-time favorites, Stand By Me (1986).

SONG OF THE thursDAY
Axel F is the electronic instrumental theme for the 1984 movie, Beverly Hills Cop. The title is short for the main character Axel Foley, played by Eddie Murphy. Axel F was written and performed by Harold Faltermeyer and became an international hit, landing in the Top 5 in ten countries and hitting No. 1 in five.

SONG OF THE friDAY
Outside was released as the lead single on George Michael's 1998 greatest hits compilation album, Ladies & Gentleman. The song was his first single after being arrested for engaging in a lewd act in Beverly Hills, which forced Michael to reveal his sexuality publicly. Outside openly discusses his community service and the reasons he had the affair.

SONG OF THE saturDAY
I’ll Be Around was recorded by the Spinners (known in the UK as Detroit Spinners) and included on the 1973 album, Spinners. It was originally the B-side to the group’s first single How Could I Let You Get Away, but deejays opted to play I’ll Be Around. Atlantic Records changed the song to be the A-side, and it hit No. 3 on Billboard Pop charts and spent five weeks at No. 1 on Billboard R&B charts.

Chuck E.'s in Love was written and recorded by Rickie Lee Jones for her 1979 debut album, Rickie Lee Jones. The song was Jones's biggest hit, peaking at No. 4 on Billboard Hot 100. It was written about her friend singer/songwriter, Chuck E. Weiss.
