We're gearing up for Thanksgiving with a seven-day tribute to family, one of our favorite things about the holiday - second only to food.

Ode to My Family is by the Irish Band The Cranberries and was released as the second single from the 1994 album, No Need to Argue. The song was a hit in most European countries, and in 2017 an acoustic version was released on the band's album, Something Else.

SONG OF THE tuesDAY
Written by Chic's Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers, We Are Family was recorded by Sister Sledge. Released on the 1979, it hit No. 1 on R&B and No. 2 on the pop charts. It was the theme song for the 1979 Pittsburgh Pirates and has been inducted into the National Recording Registry.

SONG OF THE wednesDAY
Miss Celie's Blues (Sister) is from the 1985 film, The Color Purple. Nominated for an Academy Award, Quincy Jones and Rod Temperton composed the music and wrote the lyrics with Lionel Richie. Shug, played by Margaret Avery, sings the song in the movie, but Táta Vega did the vocals.

Family Affair is from the 1971 Sly & The Family Stone album, There's a Riot Goin' On. It was the first song to follow Thank You, released two years earlier, and became the band's third and final hit on the pop charts. Family Affair was the first number-one in history to feature a programmed rhythm track.

Blended Family (What You Do for Love) was written by Alicia Keys and a whole gaggle of people and was the first single for Keys's sixth studio  album, HERE (2016). The song features vocals from A$AP Rocky and is about Swizz Beatz former marriage to Mashonda Tifrere.
