July 8 - August 31 | It's time for MAC's Annual Summer Poetry Slam. We started late this year due to the road closures in Mooseville, but we'll publish two poems a week to make up for the lost time. We also added a new award. At the end, we'll crown a champion. This year's champion will win a prize of their choice from a list that includes coffee mugs, pens, CDs, t-shirts, and the like. So, without further delay, it's time to get your poetry on. Contest Details Dates: July 8 - August 31, 2015 Criteria: Any length, theme or style is acceptable There is no limit to how many poems or how many times you submit. Summer Poetry Slam is an annual, summer-long celebration of poetry hosted by Mooseville Arts Council. This year's celebration begins June 1 and lasts through Aug. 7. Winners will be announced at Beatnik's every Wednesday, beginning June 4. SUBMISSION GUIDELINES All poets, published or not, are eligible to enter. Poems must be no longer than 500 words and can be submitted via the contact form below in either the space provided or you can attach the submission as a Word document or PDF. LEGAL STUFF: Winners will be notified by email before their poem is published. MAC reserves the right to make small edits to any submission, but promises editing decisions will be made based on formatting and/or to correct spelling. Tell a story in two pages and stand the chance to win this exclusive Mooseville coffee mug from Sweet Moose Tees.
Winners will also be featured at Beatnik Books as part of their local author series scheduled to begin this summer. It's time for the annual Spring Break Photo Celebration.
Whether you're vacationing in Mooseville or getting out of town, snap a pic of your favorite Spring Break moments, add #moosevillespringbreak, and post it. That's all it takes to participate in the fun. Submit a letter art example for a chance to be shown in a new exhibit scheduled to premier in January at Mooseville Art Museum.
Think of a word, any word, then snap photos to spell the word out. You can submit individual photos for each letter or a finished piece. The choice is up to you. You better hurry, though.
