Quincy Jones's Soul Bossa Nova first appeared on Big Band Bossa Nova (1962). It was the theme for a Canadian game show called Definition, which Mike Myers watched. As an homage to his youth, Myers used Soul Bossa Nova as the theme for his Austin Powers movies.

Sweet City Woman is a song by Canadian band, the Stampeders. It was released on the band's 1971 album, Against the Grain. The song spent four weeks at the top spot on the country and adult contemporary charts in Canada and hit number eight on Billboard Hot 100.

Cosmic Girl is the second single from Jamiroquai's third studio album, Travelling Without Moving. Released in 1996, the song uses the same pattern as George Gershwin's song I Got Rhythm and peaked at number six on the UK charts. It was also used in an episode of MTV's animated series Daria.

Night Fever was written by the Bee Gees and appeared on the 1978 soundtrack Saturday Night Fever. Producer Robert Stigwood wanted to call the song Saturday Night, but Robin Gibb expressed hesitation. Stigwood liked the song title but added "Saturday" to the movie title for marketing purposes.

Sin Wagon was recorded by the Dixie Chicks for their 1999 album, Fly. Though never released as a single, the song is one of the band's most-popular to date. Natalie Maines said the title is in reference to Grease, when Sandy refers to Danny's car as a "sin wagon" at the drive-in.
