Hollaback Girl is from Gwen Stefani's 2004 album, Love. Angel. Music. Baby. It was written as a response to Courtney Love's comment that Stefani was a "cheerleader." The song topped the charts in several countries and became the first digital download to sell a million copies.
SONG OF THE tuesDAY
Written by Van Morrison, Brown Eyed Girl was released in 1967 from the album, Blowin’ Your Mind!. It peaked at No. 10 on Billboard Hot 100 and is considered Morrison’s signature song. It was originally titled Brown-Skinned Girl, but during recording the lyrics got mixed up.

I Want Candy was originally recorded by The Strangeloves in 1965. That version reached No. 11 on Billboard Hot 100. Bow Wow Wow's version was released in 1982 as the only single from the band's EP The Last of the Mohicans. Their version failed to chart but became a classic, new wave hit.
SONG OF THE thursDAY
No Scrubs was released in 1999 as the lead single for TLC's album, FanMail. It hit the top of the charts in half a dozen countries and was the second-biggest single of 1999 on Billboard Hot 100. Earning a Grammy nomination, the song marked the first time Chilli sang lead vocals for the group.

Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now) is by C+C Music Factory. Released in 1990 by Clivillés and Cole, Freedom Williams delivers the rap and Martha Wash sings vocals. It hit the top of the charts in six countries and has been used in tons of other media, too many times to count.

Written by Bob Crewe and Kenny Nolan, Lady Marmalade was first recorded by LaBelle. Released in 1974, it hit the top spot on Billboard Hot 100 for one week. In 2001, for the Moulin Rouge! soundtrack, Christina Aguilera, P!nk, Lil' Kim, and Mýa recorded a version that hit No. 1 for five weeks.
SONG OF THE sunDAY
Something In the Water is from Brooke Fraser's 2010 album, Flags. Though the song didn't chart in the US, it became Fraser's first No. 1, landing at the top slot in the singer's home country of New Zealand and hitting the Top 10 in four other countries.

SONG OF THE monDAY
Manic Monday was the first single from the Bangles' second album, Different Light (1986). It was written by Prince under the pseudonym "Christopher" and was originally intended for Apollonia 6. Two years later Prince offered the song to the Bangles, and it became their first hit.
SONG OF THE tuesDAY
America was written by Neil Diamond and included on his 1980 soundtrack, The Jazz Singer. The song hit No. 8 on Billboard Hot 100 and became Diamond's sixth No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary charts. It was recorded in a studio but crowd tracks were put in to give it a live performance feel.

Written by Paul McCartney, Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da is from the Beatles' 1968 album, The Beatles (White Album). The song wasn't released in the UK and US until 1976. During recording, at the end, McCartney switched Desmond and Molly's roles. The band liked the slip up and kept it.

Honky Cat is from Elton John's 1972 album, Honky Chåteau. The song charted much better in the U.S. than it did in Britain, reaching No. 8 on Billboard Top 10. Since its release, it has become a staple Elton John song, and at Vinyl, it's our favorite Karaoke Night go-to jam.

You Sexy Thing was released by Hot Chocolate in 1975. It's the only song to enter the UK charts in three consecutive decades. It hit No. 2 with its original 1975 release, No. 1 with their 1987 compilation album, and No. 6 in 1997 after it was featured in the movie, The Full Monty.

Love Shack was released in 1989 from The B-52's album, Cosmic Thing. It's the band's biggest-selling single and was their first Top 40 hit, peaking at No. 3. The song's based on a cabin outside Athens, Georgia, and the music video includes RuPaul's first ever appearance in mainstream media.

The Devil Went Down To Georgia was written and released by The Charlie Daniels Band on their 1979 album, Million Mile Reflections. The song was featured in the 1980 movie Urban Cowboy and is the band's biggest hit, landing at No. 3 on Billboard Hot 100.
